Paperie Sisters

Working in a sketchbook is a big part of my process as an artist. I always have a small sketchbook with me to draw, make notes and document thoughts, ideas and experiences. In 2018 I traveld to Spain for the first time. Prior to leaving I created a travel sketchbook by hand to use throughout the trip as a place to journal, sketch and attach mementos. That first travel sketchbook started me on making myself sketchbooks sewn together with coptic binding. Fast forward to September of 2022 when my sister, mother and I traveled to England for a week. I had shown them previous travel books I made and my sister proceeded to make one for herself. What you have to undnerstandn is that bookmaking is a little addictive.

On this trip to England we discovered Cambridge Papers while shopping in Liberty of London. We took home what we could and started creating books. So Paperie Sisters was born as a collaborative venture with my sister Annie VanAmberg of Magpie by Annie. Under the name Paperie Sisters we do Pop Up Markets and Art Shows together selling all things paper. From books to collage art our styles coincide at a whimsical approach to illustrating with patterns. We strive to make all of our products with sustainable resources and hope you enjoy a little of our whimsy in your life.
